The research, based on a survey of 1,000 senior leaders, found that over 10 per tnrt admitted their organisations would be unlikely to recover from a major attac. Nearly two-thirds said their exposure to cyber risk has increased over the past year.

The survey found basic cyber hygiene remains weak. Password reuse is rife, with leaders estimating employees use their work password for up to 11 other personal accounts, including social media and dating sites – a gift to cybercriminals.

Nearly three-quarters of leaders surveyed believe at least one employee would fall for a convincing phishing email due to poor awareness, lack of training, staff being “too busy”, and no clear protocols for spotting and reporting suspicious messages.

Some of these findings are truly alarming,” said Nick Gliddon, Business Director at VodafoneThree. “One in ten leaders believe their company would not survive a cyber-attack. That highlights the scale of vulnerability facing UK firms today.”

While 89 per cent of bosses say last year’s high-profile cyber-attacks made them more alert to online threats, fewer than hal have given staff cyber awareness training.

Artificial intelligence is making scams harder to spot. Deepfake videos have made people more wary of video calls claiming to be from senior colleagues to trick employees into transferring money, handing over data or granting system access. As deepfake tools improve, social engineering is becoming more dangerous – and more convincing.

The findings come as the UK Government prepares to launch a second Telecommunications Fraud Charter later this year to strengthen defences against cyber-enabled crime. The charter aims to tighten standards for prevention, detection and response, and bring industry and government closer together.

Vodafone has partnered with decision intelligence technology provider, Quantexa, to provide a better experience for business customers.

Quantexa’s Decision Intelligence (DI) platform, deployed on Vodafone’s new Google Cloud environment, will help Vodafone use data from their systems to better understand business customers.

The platform will provide a single view of all the interactions a customer has with Vodafone and the products and services they have purchased which enables the company to engage with businesses effectively.

The new platform will initially focus on small-to-medium business customers before extending to include small office/home office and large business customers.

Nick Gliddon, UK Business Director, Vodafone, said: “We are delighted to be using Quantexa’s state-of-the-art decision intelligence platform to ensure we are maximising the value of data, making the best decisions for our customers, and improving the services we offer.

“As a technology communications company, we recognise the importance of working with innovative companies in emerging technology categories, like Quantexa. Vodafone’s Tomorrow Street initiative to identify and accelerate innovation is an exciting programme that we are delighted to work with.”

Vishal Marria, CEO, Quantexa, said “I’m thrilled that our decision intelligence platform is helping Vodafone transform the experience for its business customers. This is the culmination of a partnership between Quantexa, Tomorrow Street and many areas of Vodafone.

“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together in what has been, and will continue to be, a fantastic collaboration. This is such an important milestone for Quantexa as we expand the business into new industry verticals.”

The partnership has been ongoing for two years

Vodafone and telco provider Vilicom have collaborated to bring a 4G mobile network to the world’s largest operational offshore wind farm 50 miles off the Yorkshire coast.

Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm was recently completed by Danish energy company Ørsted, which covers nearly 300 square miles and can power over 1.4 million UK homes.

It went live earlier this year, and is now capable of supporting Vodafone’s 4G mobile connectivity across the entire site for hundreds of staff to access for work or personal use.

Vilicom chief executive Sean Keating said: “At Vilicom we’re delighted to play our part in a cleaner, greener future. The completion of this network is a huge achievement for Vilicom, Vodafone and Ørsted teams.

“Not only have we overcome the unique set of challenges involved in deploying a mobile network in the middle of the North Sea, but we have also accomplished this feat of engineering during a pandemic, with difficult operational circumstances.”

Nick Gliddon, Vodafone UK business director added: “Building a complete mobile infrastructure on an offshore wind farm is a technical challenge, but I’m delighted we’re able to provide the connectivity that Ørsted’s Hornsea 2 needs to connect to the outside world and be efficiently managed.

“It is testament to the great collaboration between us and Vilicom.”

Vodafone Business has announced former rugby player Jason Robinson OBE as its new ambassador.

Robinson will help the company raise awareness of its partnership with the Rugby League World Cup 2021 as official technology partner and support grassroots rugby in the UK.

He retired from rugby in 2010 and has founded many small businesses which help children get into sport, and the partnership will encourage players of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to get involved in rugby.

This includes the expansion of initiatives like The Rugby Hub which helps grassroots rugby clubs grow as businesses through free learning tools that will help clubs develop their digital capabilities.

Robinson said: “Partnering with brands and businesses that share the same values as I do is so important to me.

“I know first-hand how important grassroots clubs are to the future of the game, and I’m looking forward to being able to support them through this partnership.”

Vodafone’s UK Business director Nick Gliddon added:“As a brand we champion diversity and inclusion, so we are hugely excited to be working with an ambassador who has shared values.

“Together with Jason, we are looking forward to bringing our Rugby League World Cup partnership to life and help to support grassroots clubs.”

The expansion builds on a long-standing partnership between Onecom and the operator

Onecom has strengthened its existing partnership with Vodafone with an expanded product set.

The Hampshire-based business telecoms provider confirmed the expansion of its £500m strategic partnership with the operator, as the company eyes further growth.

This expansion will see Onecom offer a broader product set for its 450 channel partners, including wholesale and distribution mobile airtime services.

It also includes SIP, SD-WAN connectivity, IoT and 5G, plus Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) and SoGEA services.

Since 2019 Onecom has grown its geographical reach across the UK, with a number of acquisitions underpinned by investment from LDC, including 9 Group, Olive Communications and Nice Network.

“The purchase of 9 Group in March 2021 provided access to an established partner channel, which perfectly complements our direct customer offering,” said Onecom CEO Martin Flick.

“It makes perfect sense to extend our long-standing relationship with Vodafone to those partners. Our unrivalled scale, capability and award-winning proposition will empower our channel partners to scale up, and win greater market share together, to the benefit of customers.”

Flick adds that Onecom has more than 100,000 customers and the firm manages ‘in excess of 800,000 mobile, hosted telephony and connectivity end points’.

Vodafone UK business director Nick Gliddon added: “Bringing the energy, alignment, mobile pedigree and broader experience we have developed together over the years to the Onecom channel partners instantly extends our reach and penetration into the market at a critical time as we head towards the 2025 switch off.

Vodafone has teamed up with global enterprise cloud communications company RingCentral to create a unified platform in the UK.

‘Vodafone Business UC with RingCentral’ is a cloud communications platform providing businesses of all sizes with team messaging, video meetings and a cloud phone system for organisations to work from any device, anywhere.

The features of the platform can be run standalone or through business apps such as Microsoft 365 and Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Helpdesk services.

Vodafone Business director Nick Gliddon said: “We’re excited to be working with RingCentral to bring to market a unified communications solution that meets a real business need.

“This platform will help people work effectively and securely no matter where they are.”

RingCentral Vice President, global service providers EMEA Yves Desmet said: Bringing together the power and strengths of Vodafone with RingCentral’s leadership in unified communications, we are giving people the communications capabilities they need to get their work done, through a single mobile app.
