Launched in 2017 as a sub-brand of Vodafone, VOXI was designed to appeal specifically to younger users with a flexible, contract-free model and unlimited access to Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, Snapchat and YouTube — without eating into data allowances.

In 2020, it launched VOXI For Now, a low-cost tariff providing unlimited 5G data, calls, and texts for £10 per month to anyone pm benefits. Last year VOXI integrated generative AI into its customer service with a chatbot that uses human-like conversation to handle complex support queries.

They say they will also provide a pricing framework that encourages other MVNOs to access their additional network capacity. Upon approval of the merger, Vodafone and Three have also agreed to sell spectrum to Virgin Media O2.

Concerns

The Competition and Mergers Authority has concerns about price increases resulting from the merger of Vodafone and Three. But these are unfounded, say the two networks.

In a statement issued in response to the CMA’s findings that the merger could lead to price rises, both Vodafone and Three say they strongly believe the merger is pro-competitive and remain confident that outstanding issues can be resolved.

“Vodafone and Three disagree with the CMA’s Provisional Findings. Our merger will be pro-growth, pro-customer, pro-investment, and pro-competitive for the UK. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform UK digital infrastructure with £11 billion of network investment,” said a joint statement.

“We continue to constructively engage with the CMA and remain confident that we can work with them to secure approval. Our £11 billion network investment commitment will ensure UK customers enjoy one of Europe’s most advanced networks, and it will level the playing field with the two larger players to drive competitiveness. We are happy for Ofcom to monitor and enforce this commitment. The merger will extend the network quality benefits well beyond the merged company’s own customer base, by extending it to VMO2’s direct and MVNO customers.

“This agreement will deliver better quality, enhanced capacity, and greater coverage to over 50 million mobile customers across the country.. The CMA’s final decision on the merger is not due until 7 December, and we will continue to positively engage with them to resolve outstanding matters.”

Analyst Paolo Pescatore called the statement “unsurprisingly defiant.”

He added, “They still largely disagree with the remedies, but encouragingly show a clear willingness to work closely on a number of areas, such as the commitment to investment over the long term, a price freeze on selected tariffs under £10 for two years, and collaboration to increase competition in wholesale. It remains to be seen if the entity has done enough on pricing to ease the CMA’s concerns. This could be the sticking point that makes or breaks the deal. A path to approval exists, which is key for all parties.”

Voxi by Vodafone is offering Unlimited Music, Unlimited Social Media and 15GB for £10 a month for new and existing customers.

The Unlimited Music is free for up to six months and offers a wide range of streaming platforms. After the six-month period has ended, Voxi customers can receive Unlimited Music for only £5 per month.

Customers can access a range of new offers with more data for less and every Voxi plan comes with 5G at no extra cost.

Plans are available to purchase online and in Vodafone stores with Unlimited Social Media included and the opportunity to ‘opt in’ for Free Unlimited Music for up to six months.

Vodafone has launched what it’s claiming to be the most affordable social broadband tariff on the market- for just £12 a month. 

Research with Vodafone and YouGov reveal that a million working families could be on the wrong side of the digital divide due to cost of living and that families could lose £286 per month without access to the best prices and deals online. 

In response, Vodafone has launched its £12 a month social broadband plan along with one-year free broadband for UK small businesses.

Vodafone Essentials Broadband is available to those on Job Seekers Allowance, Universal Credit, Employment and Support Allowance, Disability Allowance or Personal Independence Payment. 

These customers won’t have to pay a set up fee and can leave at any time. They will have access to Vodafone’s Fibre 1 or Full Fibre 1 Essentials Broadband plan for 12 months with average download speeds of 38Mbps. 

Small business owners can also access free business-grade broadband for 12 months on a 24-month plan.

Ahmed Essam, Vodafone’s UK CEO, said: “The rising cost of living is putting a million families at risk of falling on the wrong side of the digital divide. We must not allow this to happen.

“So as part of our everyone.connected programme, today we are launching Vodafone Essentials Broadband at just £12 a month, the cheapest on the market, and 12 months free broadband for small businesses. 

“Vodafone is the only network provider to offer social tariffs across fixed and mobile, meaning eligible customers can access mobile and broadband connectivity for 72p a day.

“These new tariffs complement VOXI for Now and the 750,000 free SIMS we’ve donated so far as part of our everyone.connected programme. We’re on track to meet our commitment to donate a million connections by the end of this year and will continue to put the cause at the heart of our business until the problem no longer exists.”

Revolut’s Premium plan offers benefits including savings on insurance and travel, exclusive rates and 10 per cent cashback when booking accommodation overseas.

After the two months, the plan will cost £6.99 per month and the offer is available from June 1- August 31 2022.

Uswitch has warned customers that they could be charged extra for using their phones overseas, and are urging users to check before they go.

VOXI will reintroduce roaming charges for its customers travelling to the EU from May 27, making it the latest UK mobile provider to do so.

Roaming rules, plans and costs for using calls, texts and data abroad vary depending on which network provider consumers use, which makes it confusing to travel with your phone.

Uswitch mobiles expert Catherine Hiley said: “With over 10,000 flights expected to depart from UK airports in this period, this will be the first time travelling abroad for many holidaymakers since the reintroduction of roaming charges – but it shouldn’t be a voyage into the unknown.

“As part of your pre-holiday plans, check your provider’s rules to see if there are any charges for the country you are visiting. Most countries in the EU should be covered by your network’s standard package and you might be able to make extra savings by buying a special holiday pass or roaming add-on.

“If you are concerned about unexpected charges, the safest bet is to keep data roaming switched off and make good use of free Wi-Fi.”

Vodafone has boosted its ‘VOXI for now’ tariff to help those struggling financially to stay connected.

Those receiving benefits can access the plan which provides unlimited 5G data, calls and texts for only £10 a month and can be paused or cancelled at any time.

This plan would typically cost £35 per month and is the only mobile social tariff in the market.

Moneyhub will provide VOXI with an eligibility checking service to give quick and easy access to the tariff, and customers will be asked to give Moneyhub consent to check their banking data.

‘VOXI for now’ customers will enjoy the same benefits that come with being a VOXI customer such as 5G on Vodafone’s network. 

Digital Secretary Nadine Dorries said: “At a time when family budgets are under pressure from global price rises it is brilliant to see Vodafone offering support for those struggling the most.

“We’ve successfully worked with mobile and broadband companies to broker a range of social tariffs and this new offer means five million people are now able to make savings on their mobile phone bill.”

Vodafone UK consumer director Max Taylor added: “By enhancing VOXI for Now and extending it to anyone experiencing financial hardship, we hope to keep as many people as possible connected, both to family and friends, as well as to vital online services.

VOXI is also offering a “friends with benefits” scheme where you can invite friends to join VOXI and receive Amazon gift cards, as well as exclusive deals as part of its loyalty scheme.

The 75GB and 150GB plans are available to buy on the VOXI website and in Vodafone stores from February 9 until April 5 2022.

VOXI has announced the launch of a new range of refurbished mobile devices for its customers.

Customers will have the chance to buy a refurbished phone in a bid to reduce electronic waste and extend the life of the devices.

The devices are just like new and available at a bargain price which could save customers £500.

Offers are available until November 29 and include: Samsung Galaxy S21 5G 128GB: Brand New Price (£930) – Like New Price (£660), Apple iPhone 12 Mini 64GB: Brand New Price (£600) – Like New Price (£495) and Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G 128GB: Brand New Price (£1140) – Like New Price (£600).
